Free Adware Spyware Removal Program

Protecting your computer from adware is vital if you want to keep it running properly. Having adware on your computer can also compromise your personal information if it is advanced enough. Spyware is the version of adware that can read passwords and access online accounts from behind the scenes. At the very least all those pop ups are very annoying when you are using your computer. Never click on any of them because this is the first step to infecting your computer with adware. You will be surprised how clever adware really is when it comes to hiding in your computer system. While you won't be able to find it even searching specifically for it, the program continues to embed itself in your system and track your internet patterns of use. They are able to access the codes for your computer system so they are able to continue hiding out.

In order to effectively remove such adware from your computer, you will need to have a very aggressive software removal tool. Yet this is a process that needs to be carefully followed in order to get the most benefits. There are plenty of adware removal tools to select from. Yet some of them do nothing but actually put adware onto your computer so make sure you research the background of the program before you commit to using it.

Most adware removal programs are very simple to install and to use. Make sure you follow the directions and always accept the new updates that are sent your way to provide you with the very best line of protection. Look for those adware programs that have implemented the very latest technology as they will be able to fight the various types of adware programs that seem to get more complicated all the time.

It is a good idea to consider a complete package of protection for your computer system. Invest in an anti virus program rather than settling for a free adware removal tool that you can implement. These anti virus programs can protect your computer from various types of infiltration processes that are engaged in to get your personal information.

Once you have selected the right anti virus or adware protection program for your needs, carefully install it following all of the given directions. You will need to close all of your computer applications in order to do this successfully. In many instances you will be asked to turn off the internet connection during the installation process.

As soon as the program has been installed it will run a complete scan of your entire computer system. Any adware it finds will be removed immediately while safeguards will be in place to prevent further attacks of your computer. Most adware removal tools will continue to work behind the scenes to watch for new adware on a regular basis.

Remove Adware - How To Remove Adware And Spyware From Your Computer

Among the many issues a computer user can come across in his daily activity, there is a certain type of privacy and security problem that most of us aren't even aware of. Its name is adware.

Also known as advertising-supported software, adware is a software that displays or downloads advertising material after the software has been installed or while the application is running. Certain types of adware are also spyware. This refers to software that is installed on your computer without your consent. Generally, it monitors your computer use and Internet surfing, it can redirect your computer to certain websites and can even record your keystrokes, activity which ultimately leads to identity theft.

The growing issue of spyware can give headaches even to the most experienced computer savy. It is critical for Web users to learn how to detect if spyware has been installed on their computers, if so, how to remove adware or, if this is not the case, how to protect their computers from it.

Certain clues can alert a Web user if his computer has been infected. You should take action to remove adware if you detect a barrage of pop-up ads, if your browser takes you to other sites than those you typed into your address box, if you experience a sudden change in your computer's Internet home page, if new toolbars appear or if you receive random error messages.

A good way to protect your computer from spyware is scanning it on a regular basis. If the scanner detects malfunctions, allow it to remove adware in order to solve your computer's security issues. The next step is to reboot the PC after which you should scan it again before reconnecting to the Internet.

It is possible to get infected again after you remove adware. This is often the case because the program creator is possible to have configured another process which downloads and installs the adware program again. Should you find yourself in this situation, it is advisable to use a personal firewall that identifies adware processes over a period of several weeks. After that, it will help you remove adware and restore your computer. Keep the personal firewall active for at least two more weeks in order to make sure the adware won't be re-activated. If problems persist, contact a computer specialist to remove adware from your computer and solve this serious security issue.

How to Get Rid of Spyware

Spyware is software that collects internet surfing habits as you are online. It can pass your personal data on without you knowing it is even there.

Spyware can get on your computer when you download some free software programs. Spyware stays hidden on your computer and monitors files on your hard drive, looks through your cookies, and on and on. This is usually transferred anonymously but that still isn't very comforting.

I have not found where there is anything illegal about spyware. The fact is that you usually agree for it to be installed on your computer by agreeing to the license agreement when you are downloading software. Please be sure to read all licensing agreements thoroughly before agreeing.

What can be captured by spyware?

* Keystrokes

* Screen Information

* Email logs

* Chat logs

* Internet activity

* Cookies

* Hard drive information

Changes can be made to your computer settings because of spyware such as your home page being set to a new site. Some of the changes can be difficult to change back to the original settings. To get rid of spyware you need a program that can scan and remove it from your computer. Compare anti-spyware programs and find what will be the most effective for you. I have a site where the research has already been done and the reviews are there for you to compare. Click on the link below to go to my blog about anti-spyware programs that can eliminate your information from being collected. There is also information on adware removal programs and anti-virus programs as well. You should be able to find one that will meet your needs.

How to Get Rid of Adware

Adware is a program that covers your computer screen in advertisements. It can do this even when you aren't connected to the internet. You start running a program and these ads keep popping up and appearing on the screen. It is designed to hold down costs of programs for the user as well as the programmer. How annoying they are to have to deal with.

Adware can also pass on information to third parties so that you get ads that would be of interest to you based on what you search for. Adware many times goes hand in hand with spyware.

There is nothing wrong with advertising. That keeps cost down for us as consumers. The problem comes when they put things on your computer that you didn't give them the okay to do and it is just there before you know it. If I want my home page to be set up a certain way I don't want adware to come in and change it because they think I will like this better based on my internet surfing.

Many free programs you download set up spyware and adware on your computer. You need to read all licensing agreements fully before you download to know if they will be collecting your data.

To get rid of adware you need a program that can scan and remove it from your computer. Compare adware remover programs and find out what will be the most effective for you. Moths to Bugs, Bugs to Viruses, What Next? Computer Viruses and Anti Virus Protection

A Historic Timeline of Computer Viruses

1945 A moth trapped between relays in a Naval computer was discovered to be the cause of the computer's problems. The naval commander then coined the terms "bug", to refer to problems with electrical devices and "debugging" to describe efforts to fix computer problems.

1949 A Hungarian scientist developed the theory of self-replicating programs.

1950-1970 A variety of electrical and computer related complications lead to the development of current viruses, including the unlawful tapping of telephone "blue oxes" to intercept calls and telephone numbers.

Also during this time a computer "worm" was designed by Xerox Palo Alto Research Center to search for systems that are not functioning. Designed to create more efficient computer processing and use, the "worm" became the ancestor to the current generation of destructive computer viruses.

1983 One of the most famous instances of computer hacking, young computer hackers broke into United States government computer systems with an Apple computer and modem.

That same year, a University of Southern California Ph.D candidate named a computer program that affects other programs by changing itself or the host program in some way as a "computer virus."

1986 The beginning of modern day world wide infections by computer viruses.

Examples include: Programmers in Pakistan releasing the first personal computer virus, titled "The Brain."

1988 A worm designed by a 23 year old programmer invaded ARPANET (a division of the US Department of Defense) computers disabling 6000 of their computers.

1991 The release of PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) a free data encryption tool.

1991-2001 Many well known viruses were released such as: "Melissa", which automatically and quickly sent replicas of it to email addresses contained in Microsoft Outlook;"I Love You" which sent copies of passwords and usernames stored on personal computers back to the Philippine designer of this program; The Anna Kournikova" virus; which was especially alarming to computer users and programmers alike as it was the beginning of the use of "toolkit" software that can assist just about anyone in creating a computer virus.

2001 The Code Red worm (affecting systems using Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 2000 server software); the "Nimda" virus, and The "Klez" worm which was designed to also disable many of the common anti virus software protection on the market at that time were released.

2002 "Root" servers, which are used to provide Internet communication, were affected by a virus causing the need for more protection of the Internet infrastructure.

2003 The "Slammer" worm caused damages to businesses world wide.

2004 The "MyDoom" worm was introduced a virus that attempts to trick people to open email attachments that contain the virus by making statements in the message or re: form.

Antivirus Software Development

Many companies and countries claim to have developed and released the very first anti virus software product.

1987 European Bernt Fix claims to have created an anti virus software

1988 The antivirus software Dr. Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit was released by Alan Solomon, of Great Britan.

1990's By this time there were approximately 19 anti virus software programs including the well-known Symantec's Norton Anti Virus software, ViruScan by McAfee; and IBM's Anti Virus.

1994 A Symantec takeover occurred allowing it to acquire many of the smaller anti virus software protection companies making it one of the largest anti virus software services available.

In the 1990's major corporations were being formed to develop and create anti virus software. During this time the prominent company of Kaspersky Labs was formed as well as the development of the Antiviral Toolkit Pro (AVP) anti-virus scanner system. International distribution and product support became paramount in combating computer viruses with the transmittal of information across the globe as well as the use of the internet. One other prominent anti virus venture during this time was the licensing agreement of AVP technologies and F Secure Anti Virus.

As a result several very well known providers of anti virus software protection were developed and still exist today including: ALWIL Software avast!, AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, AVG Professional, eTrust EZ Armor Suite, F-Secure Anti-Virus,Kaspersky Anti-Virus, McAfee VirusScan, Norton AntiVirus, Panda Antivirus, and Trend PC-cillin.

With the development, growth and competition that this many prominent antivirus software programs to choose from each of them have tried to develop special functions and features such as customization of scan controls, blocking, parental controls, and advanced technology to make them stand out from the crowd.

In order to learn as much about viruses and to develop the best possible antivirus protection software developers study computer viruses to look for patterns in programming to better able them to detect familiar programming patterns that are used in many computer viruses and threats including spyware. Those antivirus software programs that are the most effective are active in their information gathering efforts and in catching threats before they hit your computer, as well as providing updates for detecting viruses on a regular basis. It is important that the antivirus software program that you choose also includes protection from threats embedded in images and email messages with all the communication we do via the internet and out computer.

Consumers should carefully research the products available and choose the combination of services and features that will be most beneficial to them and their family. Computer programmers are among some of the most creative and innovative minds in the world. As such we may never find a "cure" for computer viruses, but maybe we can find just the right "medicine" in the form of an efficient, cost effective and easy to operate antivirus software system to keep our personal computers and information safe.

Spyware - A Hidden Menace

The internet age has brought us many wonderful things like shopping from home, unlimited research capabilities, and YouTube. However, this new era has also ushered in a hidden menace: spyware and adware now infect over 90% of the world's computers. The problem is that these digital viruses, like their biological namesake, change their structure just as quickly as programs can be written to detect and delete them.

These malicious files are also aptly named in regards to their effects on a computer's performance. This is due to the nature of how a spyware program operates: spyware is installed on your system without your knowledge, and does not leave an icon on your desktop nor can it be deleted using Windows' "Add or remove programs," feature. While you browse the web, listen to music, and chat on your computer, spyware runs in the background, keeping track of everything you do and type. This information is relayed back to whatever company caused the software to be installed in the first place. When multiple spyware applications have installed themselves onto a machine, they all continue to run at the same time on top of whatever else the owner is doing. This dramatically slows down even a very fast computer.

After talking with a few computer programmers and a friend of mine who is a software designer for a well-known anti-virus company, I have compiled a list of 5 easy steps you can take to prevent yourself from a potentially damaging infection:

1. Whatever you do, NEVER download an Internet Explorer toolbar from a site that you do not trust. While toobars from well-known companies such as Google can be invaluable tools, the majority of these are scams. The features will all work as advertised, but the software is likely bundled with massive amounts of spyware that is completely legal because you agree to install it in the user agreement (they count on the fact that nobody ever reads those things).

2. Install spyware removal software and be sure to run a full system scan every 1-2 weeks. It is amazing how fast unwanted malware can accumulate on a harddrive. If you are on the internet alot, you may even want to increase this number. Be wary of scams when searching for an antispyware program, as many programs available for free from various websites actually contain spyware of their own. This site has helpful information about spyware and adware as well as reviews of the top 5 scan and removal programs: [http://www.antispywarereviewer.com/]

3. Stay away from file sharing networks like Kazaa, Limewire, and Morpheus. There is a reason these programs are free to download! The company makes money not by charging for the product, but by bundling it with various directed advertising components and spyware. There is also malicious software attached to many of the files hosted on the network.

4. You may want to consider downloading Mozilla Firefox to use as your web browser instead of Internet Explorer. Because the vast majority of internet users use Internet Explorer, most adware is made to work through this browser. Just by completing this step alone you can protect yourself from a large percentage of spyware programs before they even have a chance to enter your computer. Firefox can be found on the Mozilla website at: http://www.mozilla.com/

5. Though skilled programmers can sneak many spyware programs past firewalls and onto your system by bundling them with legitimate-appearing software, it is still important to have a strong firewall. Anti-virus programs like Norton or Mcafee will protect you from large threats like worms and trojans, but the software you installed if you followed step 2 is specifically made to target spyware, adware, and any threats to your personal information. Aside from the scans you should be running weekly, you will be notified of new threats as they are detected on your system, giving you the option to delete them before they become fully operational.

Free Virus Killer - Make Sure Your Computer Is Virus Free

There aer a lot of great free virus killer software packages available on the net today, but you shouldn't settle for just any. Remember, the security of your computer is at stake here; depending on how active you are on the computer, and how much important information you have, this could be very crucial. Particularly if you are one of the increasing number of people making a living online, getting good free virus removal is critical to keeping your computer running well.

Here are some quick tips on how most viruses get onto your computer, to help you avoid even having to worry about them to begin with. Generally speaking, they are most prevalent in downloadable files on the net, particularly in small, unsecure sites you may have never heard of before.

Also, you can contract them from email and instant messenger attachments. Therefore, be very wary whenever dealing with these activities. However, even if you are the most careful computer user around, that still shouldn't substitute for getting a good free virus software, because you never know when you could contract one.

So why is having a virus bad? Quite simply, they often times suck out your computers space and cause it to work dramatically slower, and often times allows hackers to actually see your personal data.

If you do suspect your computer has a virus, first of all immediately get off the net and any other networks to make sure the virus doesn't get onto anybody else's system. This is a very important first step.

Make sure you know run your anti virus software to help you pinpoint the exact location of the virus. One important tip: make sure the anti virus software you have is the latest version available, because if it isn't, it very likely won't be any match for the latest updated viruses being put out there today.

Of course, if your free virus killer isn't able to actually get rid of the virus after identifying it (most will be able to) you'll obviously have to get some different software, and often times will have to pay for software. Sometimes the free software just isn't good enough, and there's really nothing you can do about that.

What's the best software available? Many experts prefer different software, but the most famous are the McAfee Antivirus Download Free and the Norton Software. Just read reviews to help you decide which is best.

The bottom line is, make sure you are careful not to do activities that could lead to your computer getting a virus, but even so, make sure you get yourself a free virus killer that will eliminate your computer viruses immediately.

Discover The Key To Making Sure Your Computer Is Protected With The Best Anti-Spyware

It's no secret anymore that spyware can be a big threat to your computer. It's estimated that over 90% of computers have some form of spyware infection because most people aren't using the right form of protection. With this in mind we wanted to put together a quick guide showing people what they need to look for in an anti-spyware program.

Why protect your computer from spyware? Because nowadays you just can't risk not to. Not only can spyware drastically slow down your computer's performance, but it can also put your personal information at risk of being stolen.

Since there are so many different spyware removers available, we thought we would list a few key features you should always look for:

1) A comprehensive program that can search for, detect and then destroy all forms of spyware and adware

The term "spyware" consists of a lot of different types of infections. You have to look out for keyloggers, robots, browser hijackers, worms, dialers - There's far too many to list here!

Obviously it isn't your job to know exactly what all of these infections are, but it is the job of your anti-spyware program! You better be sure your spyware remover is aware of all the different infections that are out there.

Make sure to look for a program that is comprehensive and powerful enough to detect all of these malicious programs and wipe them off your computer.

2) Automatic Updates

There are new types of spyware hitting the internet each day. It's vital that your anti-spyware program knows how to detect and destroy these new infections otherwise your computer will be left vulnerable.

Look for a program that automatically updates itself so that it always knows what new threats it needs to protect your computer against. This will make sure your computer is always being fully protected.

3) Automatic system scans

One of my faults is that I'm just plain forgetful!

It might sound like a little thing, but having a program that automatically scans your computer for spyware each week is an important feature. Instead of you having to remember to open up the program and run a system scan, the program will automatically do it based on a pre-set schedule that you decide on (I recommend a weekly scan).

4) Solid customer support

Realistically you aren't going to need to ask for a lot of technical support with an anti-spyware program. Once it's installed on your computer it's pretty much smooth sailing from there. However I like to know that I can get support if I were ever to need it.

To me, a company that offers quick support is dedicated to keeping their customers happy. It's a sign of a company that is putting in the effort to produce quality products.

I don't expect to have telephone support for this type of product, but I do want to have access to prompt email support.

The four above features are something you should always look for in an anti-spyware program. By doing this, you make sure your computer is running at peak performance and your personal information is protected from spyware. It's extra important that you take these steps nowadays so you have nothing to worry about while you are online. All the best!

The Difference of Adware, Spyware And Anti-virus

Adware, spyware and computer virus share some similarities, one of which is that all three are major nuisances for computer users. Let's differentiate the three.

Spyware is software that does not intentionally harm your computer. What they do is that they create pathways wherein someone else aside

from the computer owner can communicate with the computer. Normally spywares record the various types of web sites you visit which are later used by web advertisers to allow them to send you unwanted emails and pop-ups.

This is why spyware are usually frowned upon and greatly avoided. They are more intrusive than adware. Spyware have their own separate executable programs which allow them to record your keystrokes, scan files on your hard disks and look at other applications that you use

including but not limited to chat programs, cookies and Web browser settings.

The spyware then will send the information that it had gathered to the spyware author. The agent will then use this information for advertising and marketing purposes. They even sell the information to advertisers and other parties.

Adware, on the other hand, are more legitimate form of freeware. Similar to spyware, adwares are advertising materials which are packaged into a software or program and are installed automatically once that particular program or software is added into the computer system.

Some forms of adware, on the other hand, download advertising contents as a particular application is being utilized. It is quite unfortunate that most of the adware programs take the form of spywares that is they track and report user information to program authors.

Some signs of spyware infections include pop-up ads that seem to be not related to the site you are viewing. More often than not, spyware pop-ups are advertisements about adult contents. Also if you notice your computer slowing down, there's a big chance that spywares and its other components have found their way in your operating system. When the Windows desktop also takes a longer time to load, its best to scan your computer for possible spyware infections.

Meanwhile, viruses are destructive form of software. They were purely designed and created for one purpose alone: to wreck havoc to your computer. They destroy whatever they come in contact to and will initiate self replication and infect as many components of the computer's

operating system or network as possible.

Nowadays, a lot of anti-virus software also provides spyware and adware scanning and removal utilities. Some programs, however, are focused on located and deleting or destroying spyware and adware programs. Whether is an anti-virus software or a anti-spyware dedicated scanner, they both search your computer and identify any spyware and virus installed on your system.

They then remove it as well as their components located in the system registry among other places in your computer. It is therefore, good to regularly update your virus or spyware scanner to ensure that your computer is protected from the thousands of spyware and viruses in the internet. Never be fooled from ads that claim that their products only contain adware.

These adware maybe spyware in disguised and are just waiting to be deployed for them to gather your information. Learn to setup firewall systems and always block pop-up blockers to minimize computer infection and ensure the security of all your computer files.

Advanced Spyware Removal Tools And Tips

Spyware is a problem that should be taken seriously, because it may have the potential to threaten the utility of belonging to a large virtual network. Spy-ware succeeds because some of today's desktop operating systems make it simple to build and install. Many instances of Spy programs have the ability to self-update, or automatically download new versions of themselves to the local host. Self-updating allows authors of such bad-ware to introduce new functions over time that can even the ability of Spyware removal tools, but it may also be used to evade anti spyware tools by avoiding specific signatures contained within the tools' signature databases using polymorphic techniques.

Before going further for the discussion of Spy-ware removal, let's talk about why it is such a huge problem to begin with. The problem can be tracked down with two main causes; the sneaky way that it gets installed and the lack of good detection and ultimately its prevention.

Spy-ware gets installed in a variety of ways. Some mainstream companies offer free programs that come bundled with various types of anti spyware or Spyware removal tools. When you install the application, you are also installing the spy component. Such companies often disclose their intent in the software's end user license agreement. However, the end user license agreement tends to be so long and chalked so full of legal jargon that almost no one bothers to read it prior to installing the software.

Prevention is one essential means of keeping spy program from turning your day into computing hell. Prevent Spy-ware from being installed by blocking a huge list of known Spy software controls through any advance Spyware removal tools. Weekly updates are also available via Auto-Update utility feature. Most effective method I have ever seen uses the technique which bad controls are blocked. Note that if your system is already infected with Spy-ware and your software does not help much then go for advanced Spyware removal software that is not just a shield.

Advanced Spyware removal software goes above and beyond your typical spy combat mechanism and actively monitors which programs are running on your computer. In addition to these proactive methods, the software also contains smart Adware and Spy-ware scan techniques that let you scan your entire system any time. Its protection monitors your computer and stops spyware dead in its tracks. Many websites offer you free download of the program. So, go and hunt for any reliable Spy-ware removal software today.

Anti Virus Software Download - Keep Your PC Safe With Multiple Programs

It's fairly safe to say these days that most of us, (around 80%) have bought a well-known antivirus package. Personally, I favour Norton but McAfee, AVG and a few others dominate the antivirus and spyware market. There is of course a good reason for this.

Popularity is the main reason. When you buy a computer the chances are you would buy it from a high street computer shop, a well-known internet name such as Dell, or on the strength of a recommendation. You would be very cautious about handing over your hard-earned cash to a company you have never heard of, and rightly so. The same applies to an antivirus software download. Most of us would much rather spend our money on one of the big names mentioned above, (even if they are more expensive) because we know that we will be getting a high level of protection from a brand we can trust. The only time we are likely to deviate from this is if we are offered a free antivirus program / trial or if someone we trust recommends different antivirus software downloads. What most people don't realize, (also around 80%) is that we shouldn't rely solely on these programs. Why?

Once we buy and install this antivirus software we let it run and forget about it. We assume we are safe and fully protected because we bought the best there is. To a point this is true. I would always recommend buying your main antivirus package from a recognized brand. Personally I use Norton Internet Security. It not only protects against viruses but it comes with automatic updates, checks my emails for viruses and spyware, and even comes with Norton GO-Back which is a more advanced version of Microsoft's, "System Restore". This is all wonderful stuff but there is one problem. Something that affects every one of these big brands of software.

If you are familiar with computers you may have heard that using an alternative operating system or internet browser such as firefox is safer. The reason for this is that Creators of Viruses, Trojans, Spyware, Worms and all the other types of malicious bugs are very clever. They know that almost everyone uses Internet Explorer. They also know that 80% of people use one of 5-6 big software brands.

When the viruses is created it is usually intended to reach as many computers as possible. Therefore it is only logical that the first targets to overcome are the big named brands. If the virus get get past this antivirus software undetected then it stands a very good chance of infecting thousands of machines. Now this is where the problem lies. Norton, McAfee and other big names are always the first target. There is nothing they can do about this other than to be as prepared as possible.

This is where the consumer needs to get wise. As stated above I would always recommend owning one of the recognized antivirus software packages as your first line of defence. But if this was all there was to it, then nobody would ever get a Virus on their machine. We know for a fact that thousands, (maybe more) still get infected everyday. so how do we prevent this?

The answer is very simple and inexpensive. There are hundreds of lesser known antivirus downloads available on the market. These are not frequently targeted by the creators of viruses because there is less opportunity for their virus to spread. Many of these programs will run quite happily alongside your main software, or you can just use them to run a scan periodically.

So, to ensure you are as fully protected as possible here is what you should do. First, buy or keep your current recognised 'big brand' software. This is a vital step that should not be missed (the smaller cheaper antivirus downloads are unlikely to provide adequate cover on their own). Secondly, buy a lesser known spyware scanner and remover. Thirdly, Also buy a lesser known adware stopper. It is important to note that there is no need to spend vast sums of money here. You can very easily purchase both of these products for far less than half of the cost of Norton, or McAfee.

This may sound like a time-consuming effort, but once it is installed you can simply set it to run once a week and forget about it just like your current software. By buying separate programs like this you maximise your chances of spotting anything untoward on your PC. For the sake of a few $$ you could potentially save the security of your bank account or credit card details. Don't delay in taking action!

Beware of Free Screensavers With Spyware

Use spyware protection software before installing these files. Once your computer is infected, it may be very difficult to remove all the junk. Spyware can slow down your computer, cause your computer to behave erratically and even crash. If you really want to look for free screensavers, please do your homework and use spyware protection before installing. Some websites may even claim that their files are spyware free, but they're not.

What types of files do you look for?

Usually the screensavers will come in the executable .exe extension or .scr extension. If you can't see the file extensions, make sure you have "hide extensions for know file types" unchecked in your folder options. You can reach there by going to My Computer, then "tools", then "folder options", then "view". Both of these file types have been known to be used for distribution of malware (malicious software). Be especially cautious of files being sent through email. Do not open any files sent through email by untrusted sources. Even friends that are ignorant to these schemes may send you infected files. Again, it is your responsibility to use spyware protection to protect your PC.

Why would anyone add spyware to screensavers?

To make money of course. They are easier to make than regular software and can be easily distributed to PC owners wanting to decorate their screens with nice pictures and effects. The creators of screensavers partner up with companies that add extra code to their files so that whenever someone installs them, the company will pay the creators a few cents. Once the files are installed, spyware is also installed. These companies will track any info in your PC that they think they can use. They will use popups, change your search results, and steal money from affiliates that actually worked hard to promote products that you decided to buy. How low can they go? It doesn't matter to them as long as they're making money even if you have to pay for it.

Are all free files infected?

No not all are infected and you can probably find them if you look hard. Just be cautious and use spyware protection whenever you can. It would be better to pay a few bucks for one you really like or make your own. There are plenty of tools out there that allow you to do this.

I am infected, now what?

If after reading this and you discover that you are a victim, I suggest you look for spyware protection software to clean up the mess and prevent future spyware from being installed. Now that you have been educated, stop downloading free stuff so liberally without spyware protection and if you are a creator of free software, please just stop dealing with those scum companies. They make millions while they pay you a small change to help them distribute their spyware, all the while hurting users along the way.

Simple Tricks To Remove Spyware, Elimate Malware And Stay Safe Online!

There are thousands of common forms of spyware. Many of them primarily act as spyware, whereas other programs contain features of spyware. Below are the various instances of frequently observed spyware forms and their characteristics:

Browser session hijack: This spyware tries to modify the browser settings of the user. There are various ways to install them. However, the main intent is to modify the browser behavior in such a way that, the user directs to the sites of the spyware author's choice instead of the sites that the user normally wants to reach. Often, they redirect lead users to the advertisements. They earn commissions from the hijacker, the moment any unsuspecting surfer pays a visit to their sites.

Cookies: Cookies are small packets of information that are stored on the system of the user by the web server. Because of subsequent visits, most web servers can retrieve such cookies. Very often, they store user authentication, other types of user state information and preferences. This is because they are helpful to store user identification information. This differentiates one user from the other. In addition, they also track the user across more than one web site. With the help of correlations and other techniques such as web bugs, they build profiles of individual users that may or may not contain personal information.

Web Bugs: On the other hand, web bugs are HTML elements that take the form of image tags. They retrieve information from a particular website. When the image is invisible to the user, the request making act may provide vital information about that user.

Some Web bugs often embed themselves in HTML enabled email messages or in web pages. Even the links track the previously set cookies or unique strings embedded in the URL. The typical use of this is to log the successful delivery of the messages to the unique email address. Once the user accesses the image, the cookie is set and is associated with the other email address as the beginning of the profile. Then, the cookies track the portions of the browsing habits of the user.

Browser Helper Objects: They are common problems with the internet explorer (IE). They are inprocess4 COM objects specially designed to make IE extensible in nature. They also permit easy modification and/or addition of functionality. The moment the surfer starts the internet explorer, the installed BHOs get loaded into the process space of the browser. Although BHOs take the shape of the IE toolbar, there is no requirement to implement the visible interface.

Bots: They are a special class of malware. Also known as zombie, they are the largest malware problems observed currently on the internet. They are remote control agents installed on the multiple end user systems. Typically, these agents use some form of control channel and command.

Autonomous Spyware: It either operates as a simple process or injects itself into the other processes that run on the system. It often begins at system startup or user log on.
